Is there a Gay Tax?

May20

And the Gay Tax is? $1,820 per year

Someone twittered this link today, I found the article very interesting, never really thought of it until recently. But every gay couple should check it out and take the time to sit down and consider and compute your “Gay Tax”

The cost of love isn’t an abstract concept in my household: It’s precisely $1,820 per year. That’s the "gay tax" we shell out for me to be on my wife’s health insurance plan, because her company must treat that benefit as additional taxable income.

Young, Gifted, Adorable… Chris Hughes

May6

I came across this article in last months Fast Company Magazine.  A Magazine mind you that I stopped reading years ago chris-hughesbecause I had a very un-pleasant run in with an editor (who’s name escapes me at the moment, but he was famous for sending highly offensive “fuck you” letters to people who wrote into the magazine). Anyway I cancelled my subscription and recently revived it because the web content was getting so much better and I wanted to support them.

Anyway in the April 2009 issue, there is a great article How Chris Hughes Helped Launch Facebook and the Barack Obama Campaign also on the website there is another follow-up article talking about his newest follow-up act at General Catalyst Partners. While I don’t know him personally I do admire when I see young, smart, gay people who have accomplished so much in just the beginning of their lives. It’s impressive and makes me just feel a little proud for the next generation. Anyway Go Chris.. keep up the great work! Go Brooklyn!
